Patient Quality & Safety
Shift changes occur at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. every day. Patient care information will be shared with the oncoming staff followed by a complete assessment of the patient. The nurses use Bar Code Medication Administration. After verbal confirmation of the patient’s name, their ID band is scanned, as is each medication. If the medication has not been ordered for that patient, this system prevents it from being scanned and administered.

After receiving updated guidance from the Washington State Department of Health, the overall policy around patient visitation changed.
Following state recommendations, patients in the following departments will be allowed one visitor, but are highly encouraged to arrive at the hospital alone. Those departments and locations are:
- SVH Clinic
- Snoqualmie Ridge Clinic
- Lab
- Diagnostic Imaging
- Endoscopy
- Rehabilitation
- Emergency
Please visit the MedSurg unit policies for patients without COVID and patients who are suspected of having COVID.
In response to rising COVID positive cases and the emergence of the Omicron Variant, all people ages 12 and older, who are visiting admitted patients are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Medical exemptions need to be accompanied by a letter from a physician. All visitors of admitted patients will be required to wear a Level 2 mask while on premise, unless visiting a COVID+ patient, or a patient suspected of having COVID, in which case an N95 mask will be required.
We encourage visitors for our patients. If you have a request to visit outside normal hours, special arrangement may be made. Please speak with the nursing staff.
