Rehabilitation

At Snoqualmie Valley Health, your therapist will design a program customized for your medical condition and personal needs. Whether you’ve recently experienced an injury or have been dealing with chronic pain, therapy and rehabilitation can be an enormously helpful part of your recovery.

Our Therapy & Rehabilitation department offers offer both inpatient and outpatient therapy and is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. To schedule an appointment for any of Snoqualmie Valley Health’s therapy services, please call 425-831-3572

Our Swing Bed Program provides rehabilitation and therapy services based on patient’s individual needs and can include a combination of physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapies.

Recreational Therapists enhance lives through purposeful activities that promote physical, emotional and social well-being. They design and implement tailored therapeutic programs that engage individuals of all ages and abilities in meaningful leisure pursuits.

Patients are given the opportunity to explore past, present and new leisure interests during treatment sessions while helping to recover basic motor functioning and reasoning abilities.

By combining their understanding of psychology, health and recreation, recreational therapists empower patients to overcome challenges, improve motor skills, build confidence and foster connections. Through creative interventions and personalized plans, these professionals create environments where joy and personal growth flourish, helping individuals lead fulfilling lives and achieve holistic wellness.

Treatment interventions may incorporate the following: creative arts, animal assisted therapy, sports, horticulture, table games, music and community outings with the highest quality of life being the ultimate goal.

Melanie Boehler

Specializing in Physical Therapy in adults and children

Melanie graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California in 2015. She has experience working with children who may have delayed milestones, torticollis, toe walking, autism, poor balance and frequent falls, impaired posture or scoliosis, effects from cancer and treatment, orthotic needs and more. Melanie has two young kids who inspire her to be a fun and engaging therapist.

Katie Boedeker

Katie Boedeker earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Emory University in 2018. Throughout her career, she has focused on inpatient rehabilitation, with a passion for treating neurological patients. Katie values a multidisciplinary, team-based approach to care, advocating for her patients to ensure a safe transition back into the community.

Originally from a farm south of Spokane, Washington, Katie moved to North Bend when her husband was stationed nearby with the Air Force. She chose to work at Snoqualmie Valley Health to serve her local community.

Katie and her husband are expecting their first child in January, and they share their home with a chocolate lab named Moose. She enjoys hiking, backpacking, and cheering on Gonzaga basketball. Recently, she’s also started raising chickens.

Therapeutic Recreation Specialist

Kelsey Ellis

Inpatient Recreational Therapist 

Kelsey is a Washington native and Eastern Washington University graduate with her degree in Therapeutic Recreation.  She has over 15 years of experience working on various inpatient rehab units and outpatient clinics.  Her experience includes aquatic therapy, para-transit evaluations and work with low-income older adults.  She has been involved in teaching adaptive skiing, sailing, and volunteering with Outdoors for All.  She served as the board President for the Washington State Therapeutic Recreation Association from 2016-2018 and co-authored the Recreational Therapy section of the book Community-Based Integrated Care for Older Adults.

Kelsey has a passion for helping her patients (and family members) get back into the community and continue following their passions by breaking down barriers including teaching safe car transfer techniques, providing accessible transportation options, and engaging in community reintegration outings.

In her free time, Kelsey enjoys all types of skiing, mountain biking, running, camping, backpacking, yoga, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Andrea Ennis

Andrea Ennis is a Doctor of Physical Therapy originally from Regina, Saskatchewan. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Wellness from Burman University in Alberta and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Andrews University in Michigan, where she also earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.

Andrea’s professional journey has taken her across the United States as a Travel Physical Therapist, with experience in Michigan, Tennessee, Alaska, Oregon, Colorado, and California. Now settled in Washington, Andrea chose Snoqualmie Valley Health because it offers the opportunity to provide one-on-one care and a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment. She values SVH’s commitment to continuing education and appreciates being close to outdoor adventures along the I-90 corridor.

Specializing in lumbopelvic biomechanics, particularly in relation to low back pain, pregnancy, and postpartum care, Andrea is also passionate about pain education and chronic pain management. She believes in empowering her patients through education, helping them understand their conditions and gain the autonomy to manage their recovery.

Andrea is married and expecting her first child, a little girl, at the beginning of 2025. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, rock climbing, snowboarding, and volunteering at free PT clinics. She also has a strong passion for teaching and mentoring future physical therapists.

Speech Language Pathologist

Jamie Hitchcock

Specializing in Speech Language Pathology 

Jamie graduated with a master’s degree in communication sciences and Disorders from Western Washington University in 2016 and is currently completing a clinical doctorate program in Speech Language Pathology from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. She has experience in providing speech therapy services to the adult and geriatric population across a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings, with primary clinical focus in: 

  • Aphasia and other acquired language disorders
  • Swallowing impairments (dysphagia)
  • Cognitive-communication impairments (memory, attention, executive functioning)
  • Dementia and behavioral management
  • Speech and voice disorders
  • Post-stroke recovery and progressive neurological disease management 

Her interests outside of work include creative writing, gardening, playing soccer, and hiking with her dog.

Speech Language Pathologist

Dima Karim

Specializing in Speech Language Pathology in adults and children

Dima is currently completing her clinical fellowship at SVH. She graduated from Rutgers University and gained extensive experience working with children in various settings ranging from public schools to outpatient centers. During this time, Dima gained experience treating kids with speech sound production disorders, language and social communication disorders, bilingual kids with autism, and feeding disorders.

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Rachel Rische

Rachel Rische is originally from Austin, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from The University of Texas at Austin, followed by her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University at Dallas. Rachel brings a wealth of experience from her roles at various healthcare facilities across the country, including her time at Barnes Jewish West County Hospital in St. Louis, where she contributed to research on knee replacement recovery.

In 2013, Rachel completed comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training, focusing on equipment and mat-based exercises through a rehabilitation-based program. She is also a certified Clinical Athlete weightlifting coach, further expanding her ability to help patients regain strength and mobility.

Rachel chose to join Snoqualmie Valley Health for its close-knit community and dedicated team, which makes her excited to come to work every day. She is passionate about listening to her patients’ goals and creating personalized therapy plans to help them return to the activities they love, using movement and exercise as key tools for recovery.

In her free time, Rachel enjoys exploring new hobbies, such as circus arts, and hiking in the beautiful Washington mountains.

Occupational Therapist

Janna Stombaugh

Upper Extremity Orthopedic Management, including Surgical Interventions and the use of Dynamic Splinting

Janna is the Lead Occupational Therapist at Snoqualmie Valley Hospital. Janna graduated from Occupational Therapy school in 2004 at Eastern Washington University. Janna has worked across a variety of settings in her career, including acute care, skilled nursing facilities, home health, subacute settings and outpatient therapy. Janna is a certified ergonomics assessment specialist who completes workstation evaluations for employees at Snoqualmie Valley Hospital. She has a special interest in neurological impairments, upper extremity conditions and working with older adults with a focus on patient’s goals to obtain their highest possible level of independence.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, skiing, biking, running, camping and gardening.

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Kendra Widner

Lead Physical Therapist, Specializing in Neurological Issues in Adults and Children

Kendra is the outpatient clinic lead. She graduated from Washington State University with her Bachelor of Science, and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of South Carolina. She incorporates manual therapy and full body assessment into her sessions, with an emphasis on treating the person as a whole. Her areas of interest are:

  • Myofascial release
  • Neurological impairments including post stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury
  • Geriatric populations
  • Dizziness and Vestibular disorders

When not at work, she enjoys camping, hiking and exploring the outdoors with her husband and son.
